Orocos Version 0.14 Released

Posted 8 May 2004 at 20:23 UTC by steve Share This

Another major Orocos update has been released. The update includes many new features as well as bug fixes. The Open Robot Control Software (Orocos) framework provides a real-time C++ infrastructure for creating standards-based robot control software. Orocos is designed to run under Real-Time Linux variants but will also run under conventional Linux distributions. The Orocos API includes a wide range of useful tools including kinematics, task sequencing, and CORBA-based communications primitives. Orocos is Free Software licensed under the GNU GPL.

Lisp?, posted 9 May 2004 at 03:02 UTC by roschler » (Master)

[Note: I'm a Prolog fan, not Lisp, although I do have great respect for that language].

Slightly off-topic, but all this C++ robotics stuff does beg the question, "where are the Lisp libraries?". Not for tasks that require really fast computation speed like servocontroller management and vision recognition, etc, but I would have thought there would be some for decision making tasks on some of the "off-board" robotic systems ("off-board" = not everything slammed onto a small onboard CPU with some memory and an RTOS).

Just curious.
