Posted 6 Nov 2004 at 21:41 UTC by steve Share This

A recent PhysOrg.com article describes a Duke University wall climbing robot, name Walter, that took first prize at the seventh annual International Conference on Climbing and Walking Robots. More information can be found in a recent Duke University article on the robot and in a slashdot story. More photos of the robot and the competition can be found in the CLAWAR 2004 gallery. The robot uses a dual vortex, air suction device made by Vortex HC, to hold itself to the wall.
