Reverse Engineered Nomadic Software

Posted 30 May 2001 at 14:21 UTC by steve Share This

When Nomadic Technologies went out of business, it left users of the XR4000 and Nomad 200 robots with no software support. Since the software was proprietary rather than free software, no source code was available to users and they are no longer able to obtain bug fixes or new features. DRobot is a project to reverse-engineer the Nomadics software and replace it with free software under the GNU GPL license. They released their first completed software component yesterday, the NRobot daemon for the XR4000.
