Two Big Robots

Posted 2 May 2005 at 19:59 UTC by steve Share This

Lots of robot stories have been stacking up including a couple about really big robots. First, there's a giant robot sculpture called the WEEE Man made of 3.3 tons of surplus computers and electronic equipment. Then Sakakibara Kikai of Japan announced the Land Walker, a giant, two-legged walking robot said to be modelled after the Gundam. If you need your own giant robot, you can buy the Land Walker for just 36 million yen (about $343,000).

Land Walker doesn't walk, posted 3 May 2005 at 12:46 UTC by onnimikki » (Master)

Watch the feet. They never leave the ground, even when it turns. I'll bet that it's skid- steering using tracks or wheels under its feet.

Regardless, it's pretty neat.

I've also seen out on the net, this guy up in Alaska trying to build one with donation money, I see some flaws in his design from what he tells us, and it seems like its gonna go to waste. Anyway I'm rambling now. Here's the site: www.neogentronyx.com
