EETimes on Gumstix Robotics Applications

Posted 20 Jun 2005 at 21:53 UTC by steve Share This

An EETimes article describes the use of a Linux-based Gumstix board as the controller of a UAV based on a model airplane. Owen Holland of the University of Essex doesn't have just one UAV in mind, he's planning on building a swarm of them. We've mentioned the swarm aspect of this project, called Gridswarm, in a previous post. EETimes focuses on the use of the Gumstix controller and Linux to create a sort of flying Beowulf cluster. The article also talks quite a bit about Gumstix and its founder, Gordon Kruberg who has worked on robotics projects for a long time.
