Well, it's late Sunday evening, and for NASA's Space Elevator Competition there's still no official results. Seven teams competed with at least one team from the University of British Columbia, successfully sending a robot up the tether. However, it looks like no one will win the $50,000 grand prize. It seems all the teams had trouble getting enough power for the power/weight ratios involved in the contest to get to the goal speed of one meter per second to win. Four teams competed in the strongest tether contest, with no team winning that contest either. We'll have to wait to see the official results but it looks like they'll be having these contests again (next year?)
