Mini-ITX Biorobotics at Case Western

Posted 13 Jan 2006 at 16:47 UTC by steve Share This

A new VIA Arena story suggests that Case Western Reserve University Biorobotics Lab is switching from PC-104 form factor controllers to the Mini-ITX motherboard. Under the leadership of Roger Quinn, the Biorobotics Lab has produced a lot of interesting robots including Robot III, a 24 DOF pneumatic powered robot based on the Blaberus cockroach. The Mini-ITX is slightly larger than PC-104 boards but is significantly less expensive, making it very popular for robotics use. In other Mini-ITX news, PicoPSU, the smallest, cheapest 12V DC-DC converter to date was announced at CES recently.
