From LinuxDevices.com comes news of a new Linux microcontroller that looks ideal for robotics applications. The Technologic TS-7260 sports a 200MHz ARM9, 32MB or 64MB of SDRAM, 32MB flash drive, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 Ethernet port, 30 digital I/O pins, 3 serial ports, 2 12 bit analog-to-digital ports, a PC/104 expansion port, SPI bus, and matrix keyboard and LCD interfaces. The board also includes a feature they call TS-XDIO which is designed to offload CPU intensive tasks like PWM and quadrature. The board never draws more than 1 watt and can run for 172 hours on a 12V 7.2AH SLA battery. The board comes with a Linux 2.4.26 kernel already loaded into flash. Technologic provides ready-to-go kernel images, bootloaders, and gcc cross tool chains for Linux and Windows. It also supports the minimal GPL'd eCOS real time OS.
