NASA has a new press release out describing their project to build something that looks like the Jedi training remote of Star Wars but functions like the Tricorder of Star Trek. The device, called a Personal Satellite Assistant or PSA, is a small autonomous robot that can move about the International Space Station monitoring atmospheric gas levels, pressure, and temperature. It also contains cameras and communications gear that allow it to be used as a video-conferencing device, and to provide information on mission events to astronauts.
