Along with an elevator-using automated vacuum and a furry therapeutic seal, the My Spoon meal-assistance robot was honored this week at the 2006 Robot Award(s) ceremony in Tokyo. My Spoon can scoop up food located within compartments of a special tray and move them towards a human eater, simplifying an otherwise difficult task for those with physical limitations. Modes include manual operation providing joystick control, semi-automatic, and fully-automatic where food selection, motion, and feedback from the eater is all under control of the computer.
