Talking Robots: Hod Lipson and Josh Bongard

Posted 27 Dec 2006 at 16:59 UTC by steve Share This

Markus Waibel writes, "After making front-page news worldwide with their highly adaptive and damage resilient robot just a few weeks ago, Hod Lipson and Josh Bongard are now featured on the Talking Robots podcast. In their interview they explain how their robot can have a concept of its own body, and use introspection to adapt its behavior. Unlike conventional, pre-programmed robots their robot can autonomously learn how to continue operation in spite of losing a leg, for instance. Their work raises interesting questions about robot consciousness." The new podcast was released Friday, 22 Dec. This is part of a Christmas backlog of robot news items I'll be posting over the next couple of days.
