This weekend (Oct 20, 21) is the Austin Texas Maker Faire - a
two-day, family-friendly event celebrating engineering and art at
the Travis
County Expo Center.
Creative folks and those who love to gaze are invited to
view the demonstrations, join the clothing swap, network with
like-minded (or unlike-minded) faire-goers, chow down
with Austin's DIY food
builders,
Get drenched with a Coke/Mentos mega-fountain,
and check out the catapult
competition.
Yes, there will be plenty of robots including a robotic blimp, a
mechanical flower, a swarm of robotic batmobiles, a few combat
presentations, and much
more.
Not going to Maker Faire is eating me alive. If anyone here goes, please post video & pictures and then make a Robots.Net blog post so we'll know; especially pictures of Pleo & Ugobe folk and the more zany events there too. Thanks.
I'm going..., posted 16 Oct 2007 at 18:21 UTC by steve »

I'll be there. A lot of Dallas Personal Robotics Group folks are going
too. I tried to talk them into bring their trebuchet to enter in the
king of fling competition. It's more up to hitting a target at 75' with
a water balloon. Too much trouble transporting it and no one wanted to
blow all their time at the faire messing with the trebuchet when they
could be exploring all the other cool stuff. Maybe next year. Anyway,
I'll be shooting plenty of photos while I'm there.
