Let's see what interesting news has accumulated in the editor inbox this
week: John Fisher sent us a link to more photos and
video of the DARAP Urban Challenge qualifications. The Swirling
Brain noted a Gizmag
article that compares the miltary TALON robot to a transformer.
Somehow I think we've still got a ways to go before building an Optimus
Prime robot. Along the same lines, he found another link to a toy
humanoid robot that transforms from a legged robot to a wheeled
robot. He also sent us a Jerusalem
Post story on computerized clothes that can turn anyone into a
cyborg linked to a network of their friends or coworkers. In other news,
there will be a gathering
of over 30 scientists in Europe to discuss methods of measuring
human emotions, with the intention of improving emotional interaction
between humans and robots. The
International Herald Tribune posted yet
another story on using robots to solve the problems of Japan's
rapidly growing elderly population. Know any other robot news, gossip,
or amazing facts we should report? Send 'em our way please.
