The latest interview in the Talking Robots podcast series talks to Roland Siegwart, head of the Autonomous Systems Lab and Director of the Center for Product Design at the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems at the ETH Zurich, Switzerland. In this interview Siegwart shares his long years of experience in both research and industrial robotic applications. He talks about his work on the next generation space rover for the European Space Agency ESA, set to launch for Mars in 2013. And he draws conclusions from one of the largest experiments in real-world robot-public interaction to date, where over the course of five months 10 robots guided more than 500'000 visitors through the Swiss National Exposition Expo02. Listen in - and don't forget to have a look at Siegwart's latest book which offers an excellent advanced introduction to autonomous mobile robots.
