Dr. Ayanna Howard from Georgia Tech has developed a robot to navigate ice shelves. The autonomous SnoMotes will be used to take measurements and collect data to try to understand the melting ice shelves. Multiple robot agents are to be deployed to cover the ice shelves. Using an auction system, the robots bid on which section of the area to take data. The SnoMotes' first real field test is scheduled to be next month in Alaska.
