Terrorist Attack on US

Posted 12 Sep 2001 at 13:04 UTC by steve Share This

If you haven't heard by now, there has been major terrorist attack on the United States. Most indications are that it was initiated by the Islamic group led by Osama bin Laden and supported by Afghanistan. We're still recovering from the shock of the events but will return to posting robotics news as soon as possible. In the meantime, please consider helping the victims of the attack by donating blood or money.

Helping Victims., posted 13 Sep 2001 at 00:18 UTC by lucretiaX » (Apprentice)

As part of the prosthetics community, many of my colleagues are donating time and supplies to the rescue efforts in NYC and DC. Flo-tech, one of our immediate post-op artifical leg companies has donated as many sockets as needed to the effort. The community as a whole is helping out our fellow organizations in NYC and DC. I hope that all people in the robots.net community take the time to give blood, attend a vigil, send money or at least call a loved one. Also i hope this is at least stimulization to create better robotic implementations to assist in rescue efforts and post-trauma.

blood, money, and robots, posted 13 Sep 2001 at 03:57 UTC by steve » (Master)

We've made some cash donations to the red cross through amazon. Paypal is also taking cash donations. Tried to donate blood but ran into a five hour wait. We'll try again soon.

I've heard on the TV and the radio that search and rescue robots are being used to help look for survivors. I'm trying to track down some details so I can post a story on it shortly.

Normalacy, posted 14 Sep 2001 at 18:38 UTC by robodave » (Journeyer)

My sister has been lucky to only be displaced by the recent tragedy. What she and other New Yorkers seem to want now is some sort of return to normalacy, to work, to that for which we live. It is difficult to stand unable to help miles away and watch the scene progress, but know that we will not be held down. I fight my own feelings of suspicion against coworkers that appear to be related in some way to those that attacked us in such a horrific way. Try to send your prayers and hopes to aid those in loss, those in fear, and those that lead us to respond in a manner to bring justice and safety to our people and those of the world.
