Austin Maker Faire - Saturday

There's a lot of robot inspired art at this year's Maker Faire including a lot of metal sculptures by the Austin Metal Authority. These guys are pulling red hot metal out of forges, banging it with hammers, and turning out some amazing stuff. It's loud work and impressive to watch. Here's a retro-looking bipedal robot with fully articulated arms reminiscent of the pods from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

This is the head of a large biped that's about 6 feet tall. All the welds are perfect and the detail is amazing.

There was also a table full of smaller biomorphic sculptures that look like a cross between machines and monsters from an H. P. Lovecraft novel.
