This article on CNN talks about robotic U.S. spy planes flying over Afganistan. From the picture, I couldn't tell for sure if it was a Predator or Global Hawk. Thi s link on USA Today gives a nice overview of the two UAVs. I think Global Hawks are still in testing so it's probably a Predator if it's one of ours. They've shot three or so anti-air missles and haven't shot it down yet. The Predators cost about 1/4th of $25 million (they come in a package deal of 4 planes and a control center) which my guess would price them around $5 million each. There's been a few Predator UAVs that have been shot down or crashed in the middle east. I think the count is two down over Iraq and one down over Afganistan so far.
