Trolltech has announced a worldwide developer contest for the Sharp Zaurus SL-5000D PDA. The Zaurus is one of the new generation of Linux-based PDAs that offer an open source, free software OS in place of the proprietary Palm or WinCE environments available on older PDAs. Prizes up to $10,000 in cash are being offered, so it may be time for some new PDA-based robots. The only drawback for robot entries may be the unimaginative application categories listed in the rules. Is a PDA-brained robot "entertainment" or a "productivity application"?
