All-Terrain Mars Robot

NASA has demonstrated yet another prototype Mars robot. This one is the All-Terrain Explorer (ATE) and is designed for exploring the steeps cliffs and rocky areas of Mars. For very steep cliffs, the robots work in teams with two robots anchored at the top of a cliff supporting a third with tethers. The ATE robots are self-reconfiguring, autonomous, and include several terrain-adaptive features.
