Cryobot: An ice-melting robot

NewScientist has posted an article about Cryobot, NASA's ice-melting robot. Cryobot is designed to melt its way through ice to reach sub-surface lakes or oceans. The robot has just completed its first successful test in the Arctic. In the future Cryobot will be used to explore Lake Vostok in the Antarctic and Cryobot's successor may explore the oceans of Europa.
