Conducting Polymer Actuators

Technology Review has an article on the progress of conducting polymers, one of the more hopeful artificial muscle technologies. The article focuses on work being done by John Madden and others in the Conducting Polymer Actuators Project at the MIT Bioinstrumentation Lab.

JPL is having two lectures on 'Electroactive Polymers as Artificial Muscles' later this week. They will be broadcast over the Internet. Here is the link:

Also, the March 2002 issue of "Poptronics" has an article on 'Artifical Muscles' that includes information and resources on doing your own experiments.
