MIT has put together a robot that will be tasked with reporting the news from danger zones like Afghanistan. It's not clear whether this is autonomous robotics or just telepresence, but either way there are some obvious advantages here, especially in the wake of Daniel Pearl's kidnapping and execution.

The Washington Times reports.

It's not carrying any weapons just yet. But then again, neither were the military's own unmanned aircraft just a few months ago, so who can say what will happen next?
