Somewhere between R/C Blimps and air muscles is the world of balloon robots and pneumatic sculpture. Based on the principle of pneumatic membrane mechanisms, balloon robots can be very large. They are inflatable structures that achieve movement by the computer-controlled, dynamic redistribution of air. Babot, a Japanese company, offers commercial products based on the technology.
