NASA Adds RATS to Mars Rover

In 2003 NASA will be launching two Mars Exploration Rovers to the red planet. A recent JPL Spolight article focuses on a robotic geological tool that will be included on the rovers, called the Rock Abrasion Tool (RAT). The RATs are being build by Honeybee Robotics. Each RAT is a diamond toothed, robotic drilling machine designed to dig into Martian rock and allow scientists to study the unweathered minerals within.
