Michael Owings and Dennis Clark have written a new book for the TAB Robot DNA series called Building Robot Drive Trains . The book covers DC motors, stepper motors, interfacing motors, control logic, wheels, tracks, legs, motor mounts, speed calculation, shaft encoders, and PID algorithms. The book has many illustrations and schematics. Michael Owings is also the maintainer of the Robotic Vision mailing list.

This is a very nice book. I bought it a few days ago before reading this review and I must say that this is a book that belongs in everyones collection. While there are a lot of 'obvious' solutions, sometimes we forget about them, or in the case of novices, they are not so obvious at all.

Good reading.
