A new Popular Science article with the colorful title, Robot Subs Go To War, describes the latest Navy AUVs. It's unclear whether or not any of the latest generation of AUVs are ready for use in the upcoming Iraq conflict but it is clear a lot of progress has been made. Also included is an AUV photo gallery and an interview with Clayton Jones, a lead developer of the (non-military) Slocum Glider AUV.
