Yet another new
robot vacuum cleaner is on the way. Roboking is made by L. G.
Electronics in Korea and looks
a bit like R2D2's head. This is first release of a new robot vacuum
cleaner in years that hasn't claimed to be the "world's first robot vacuum
cleaner" - which may mean that the Roomba's success is big enough no
one will be able to get away with that claim any longer. The Roboking is
priced at 2.49 million won (about $2,000).
It still has the problem of costing too much.
When you can get a good vacuum cleaner for under $200, it's
hard to justify another super expensive vacuum cleaner.
It sort of reminds me of the Kirby and how much it costs. Or that nifty
(albeit expensive) water filtered cleaner too (I forget it's name). I
suppose this sucker will be a new item in the door to door salesman's
inventory to sell for say $3600.00?
I got my vacuum cleaner at Sears, it cost about $100 too.
The ROOMBA doesn't work in my house as we have throw rugs, and I think
it would get hung up on them. Most of my robots can't handle throw rugs.
"Or that nifty (albeit expensive) water filtered cleaner too (I
forget it's name)."
I think you're talking about the Rainbow by Rexair. It is high priced, I
recently bought one to hack for my project. (Used, as I couldn't look at
myself in the mirror if I destroyed a new, $2000.00 vacuum.)
PS:
"..and looks a bit like R2D2's head."
I am frankly surprised Steve would post anything with the word "head" in
it. I would have thought that was an obvious no-no after one recent
discussion:
