A new technical paper by Baden Hughes describes a proposed open data model for the storage and manipulation of digitized linguistic field data. The original purpose was to assist with preservation of old analog recordings and other field data for aboriginal languages at the UQ Flint Archive. The model is based on standards of the Open Language Archives Community (OLAC). Wider adoption of linguistic standards could have important implications for some AI and robotics applications
