MTI MicroFuel Cells Available Soon

Posted 22 Jun 2003 at 14:16 UTC by steve Share This

MTI MicroFuel Cells published a press release recently stating they are now very close to commercial availability of their methonal fuel cells. Designed to power PDAs, cell phones, and laptops, these small fuel cells have over three time the power density of the best batteries. If the prices are not too high, tiny fuel cells like these will be a boon to robot builders. As we've reported before, MTI has been promising to ship these in 2004 for two years and appears to be right on schedule. At a trade show earlier this year, President Bush placed a call to the White House on a cell phone powered by a prototype MTI fuel cell. Unlike Bush's recent attempt to ride a Segway, he turned the phone on before operating it and there were no accidents.
