nprobert writes: FIRST has dumped Parallax's BASIC Stamp 2sx for Microchip's PIC 18F8520 to be programmed in C using Microchip's MPLABS IDE and C18 C compiler. This promises a quantum leap in FIRST robot intelligence and performance. It also opens the floodgates for students to really experiment with new control algorithms never possible before with the BasicStamp. Dijkstra would certainly approve of the switch away from BASIC. For details on the hardware, see the FIRST 2004 Robot Controller page.
