FIRST Robotics is a multi-national competition created to provide high school students with an applied approach towards learning engineering through competitive robot design and construction. Consisting of over eighteen- hundred teams from the United States, South America, Europe, and Asia, FIRST Robotics combines the spirit of learning and friendly competition with the catch phrase of "gracious professionalism." For more information, visit the FIRST website at www.usfirst.org. Team 233, more commonly known as the "Pink Team", is located on the sunny Florida Space Coast. A joint venture between two otherwise-rival High Schools, Rockledge High School and Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School, Team 233 has been participating in FIRST Robotics competitions for over half a decade, and has distinguished itself with numerous commendations in FIRST and Community Awards. So far this year, The Pink Team has won the UCF Regional competition, the Denver Regional, and in two days is off to the International Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. Look for the Roccobot2k5 (it will be the PINK one) on NASA Tv April 21-23. To imagine how fun and educational FIRST robotics really is, just ask yourself, how would you get 40 adolescent guys to wear pink shirts, wigs, and bodypaint?
