Representing the Ocean Systems Laboratory research group at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. I'm a research engineer in subsea robotics with a phd in automated diagnostics and mission management. Designed and built the RAUVER robot submarine (see homepage link) which we are now upgrading to be fully autonomous, with batteries and onboard AI. Am an all round engineer interested in hardware, software, mechanical, AI, everything robotic really, particularly to do with robotic exploration. Not limited to underwater robots. News (1 Feb '05): RAUVER's navigation system is currently being upgraded with a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), which will provide significantly greater accuracy and usability than the current system. Updated specifications will be published when available. The navigation system upgrade will be completed on 1 June 2005
