iRobot has patented an intelligent new navigation system for Roomba. The company faces new competition from the Neato XV-11, with laser- guidance and mapping, and the Mint Cleaner, so this doesn't come a moment too soon.

iRobot filed a patent application for a Roomba with a Square-Sided front, which is intended to better clean corners and edges. Pics at the link!

I've uncovered a new 1-pound military micro robot called iRobot Ember. The idea is to send out swarms of these robots to set up and instant wireless communications grid on the battlefield, but there could be a lot of other uses besides.

iRobot has confirmed that they will launch a third generation of the famed Roomba robot vacuum later this year, Robot Stock News reports. The new Roombas are expected to feature improved reliability and a Lighthouse feature so they automatically know which rooms they have cleaned.
