Notes: I'm a system software engineer at a major computer company (think big endian ;-) and am currently working on my first autonomous robot. I don't have much of an electronics background, so this has been a real learning experience for me. I'm a member of the Homebrew Robotics Club of Silicon Vally and usually am able to attend the meetings. I'm working with Wayne Gramlich's RoboBricks initiative and am making good progress integrating it with my robot, iOre. iOre has evolved over time to its current state of a Zagros robotics base, modified using XBeams connectors, and a PowerPC laptop for a brain. The drive system uses a home made hbridge driven by a USB digitial IO chip from delcom engineering. Pictures will be on my website as soon as I get around to taking them ;-) The 'Bot is accessed wirelessly over 802.11, and incoroprates an off the shelf webcam. Currently it is lacking in sensors and must be manually driven from a remote host. My plan is to integrate the robobricks sensors for Sonar and bump switches. In liu of wheel encoders for positioning, I'm adapting an optical mouse to give me relative movements.
